Stanford University Mathematics Camp
The Stanford University Mathematics Camp (SUMaC) is located at Stanford University and typically takes place from the last two weeks of July to the first two weeks of August. The students stay at the Synergy Coop.
SUMaC features two distinct courses - Program I and Program II. Program I is taught by Rick Sommer and covers the basics of group theory and number theory. Program II is taught by Adrian Butscher (previously Rafe Mazzeo) and covers basic algebraic topology.
After a daily lecture, students are then tutored by counselors on problem sets from past lectures. There is typically some sort of activity right before dinner that most of the camp participates in. Most students finish their problem set before or around dinner time.
Students must be current 10-11th graders who will be 15-17 years old on the first day of the program. The cost is $6150.
