AoPS Wiki talk:AoPS Community Awards

Revision as of 01:03, 3 January 2009 by Dojo (talk | contribs)

This list is very very far from complete, but there's no way I can know who everyone is or track down every major award, so I'll leave most of the rest for the community to fill out.--MCrawford 17:39, 26 June 2006 (EDT)

I added Neal Wu to this list. Last summer, he told me that he uses the AoPS books, and he has an AoPS screename. He said, however, that he doesn't post much, instead preffering to just work the problems himself, and look at a posted solution when absolutely neccessary. So, although he may not be an active member, he does have an account, and he does browse the forums. Therefore, added. --Sean 00:06, 27 June 2006 (EDT)

I removed AMC 8 perfects because the list would be utterly huge. If somebody wants, they can create a different page for it and simply link to that page from this one, but I also feel like there is a long list of accomplishments that would be more noteable that we aren't adding to this already long list of distinguishing achievements (such as Mandelbrot or Mu Alpha Theta winners).--MCrawford 01:11, 27 June 2006 (EDT)

Do you think we should keep AMC10 perfects? That list will probably get to be fairly large too... --Eryaman

AMC 8-10 perfects created ---Dojo 04:20, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Eh it got deleted. Can someone get the info back?--Dojo 06:03, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

AIME Perfect Scores

Did Arnav get a perfect AIME score this year (2006)? NC doesn't show any on the AMC site. Someone may want to check this.

article This site says he did, but the amc site says there weren't any in NC. Why not ask him? Should we add a section for people who won as part of a team in the Putnam? What about the Elizabeth Lowell Putnam prize winners? -quantum leap

I removed MathCounts team awards and I feel like Putnam team awards would result in a similarly large list. These awards can be mentioned in the historical results pages for each competition.--MCrawford 16:35, 8 July 2006 (EDT)

ISEF, NVC, and WPC

I understand that ISEF, the National Vocabulary Championship, and the Reader's Digest Word Power Challenge sections disappeared courtesy of Scrambled. I know it's bragging on myself, but there were other people that I listed in each section as AoPSers who've won. Am I just being ridiculously bragging, or should this be reverted?--solafidefarms 13:25, 12 August 2007 (EDT)

I would restore ISEF, but the other two seem somewhat off-topic here. --JBL 11:33, 13 August 2007 (EDT)

Possibly, but didn't Anurag Kashyap get a sitewide entry in the rotating banners when he won NSB, because he was a SDMCian?--solafidefarms 20:14, 18 August 2007 (EDT)

Also, I observe that this page is linked to in the banner as a list of accomplishments of AoPS members. So how is NVC & RDWPC not relevant? We're supposed to be bragging on what AoPSers have done, not just in math. [Also, ISEF never got restored. ...]--solafidefarms
