Chapter Competition
For Oklahoma’s chapter competition, there are four distinct regions. Each region competes on a certain date.
- East central: first weekend of February or last weekend of January
- Central: one week after central
Eastern: two weeks after central- Northwestern: three weeks after central
- Southwestern: four weeks after central
The eastern region was eliminated in 2015. It is uncertain if it will come back in the future.
The most competitive of these five regions are the ones with Oklahoma's two major metropolis: east central (Tulsa) and central (Oklahoma City/Norman).
All regional competitions in Oklahoma share the same selection process, which, at minimum, is: The top two competitors and the top team. The countdown round may used to determine state qualification.
In 2025, the top 4 teams and the top 4 competitors made state.
State Competition
State competition is usually held on the first weekend of March. Approximately students compete each year. Countdown round is official. The 2025 Oklahoma State Competition was on March 1st, 2025 at Oklahoma City University.

National Competition
In the national competition, Oklahoma is usually ranked slightly below average, often scoring in the high 20s to mid 30s. The best Oklahoma has ever done was in the second MATHCOUNTS year, with a student, Timothy Kokesh, making first place individual and the Oklahoma team making 3rd.
AoPSers from Oklahoma who Made Nationals
Note: a strikethrough through the year represents that person made nationals because of countdown (i.e. ranked 5th or lower on written), and grayed out years means that person was ranked 4th written but lost countdown.
