Plug in a perfect square-4 4 * sqrt(4) = 4 * 2 = 8 cbrt(8) 2 * 2 * 2 = 8 so you start with a 4 and end up with a 2 that would be the sqrt x ^ (1/2) means sqrt(x) so the answer is x^(1/2) (D)
