Hello. Call me NMK.

About

I am a homeschooled, lonely eighth-grader living in Markham, Canada, north of Toronto dat-place-with-da-crack-smoking-mayor, Canada. I'm mostly fluent in English (just the grammar), so-so in Cantonese, and horrible at Mandarin. Oh, and I suck at French too.

Personality

I'm that sort of introverted nerd who doesn't talk much in public and stutters when he has to, but doesn't do so when talking with friends. I'm also not very funny and kinda witless, but if you ever meet me you won't have to prepare for the dullest - and awkwardest - conversation of your life, since I'll probably vanish magically once you say hello.

Religion

I'm a Protestant who has an interest in Roman Catholism but doesn't want to be a Catholic. I know, weird.

Math

I haven't gone to many math competitions, mostly due to my isolated location with respect to the nearest AMC testing centre. I did take the Pascal last year and I got a dismal 126, so I'm staking my revenge with hopes of at least a 32 on the Fryer this year plus at least a 40 on the COMC.

English

I suck at writing. Nuff said.

CS

My first experience at actually being computer literate (lol) came at around 12, when I started learning HTML. That became CSS in early March of 2013, followed by my first released style. After that I just brushed up on CSS knowledge, before deciding to learn Python in mid-December. I'm currently on Chapter 7 of the tutorial. Yay!

Along with knowledge of HTML and CSS came a super-geeky computer side. I metamorphosed into a computer guy, becoming extra picky about browser choice and arguing that whatever browser I was using at the time was the best in the world, not to mention that IE was a piece of crap (until IE 11 came out, that is). I also caught an interest in Linux, and early in October 2013 I downloaded Ubuntu and installed it. That was short lived; my HDD was only 60GB and reserving just 5.3GB for a Linux system is a huge mistake. Then a family friend moved, and while looking through the stuff he'd collected over the years I found an intact HDD. So I brought it home, replaced its juice-busted plastic enclosure with a new one, and on January 12, 2014 watched it spin for the first time in over 5 years. I installed Ubuntu on it, and now I'm a happy Ubuntu 13.10 user with Firefox 29 as my default browser.
