The Charpie Scholarship is an extremely competitive leadership scholarship offered to only a few students from certain high schools each year. The scholarship is not very publicized (on purpose), so there is not much information about it available online.
Selection process
- Students are picked for leadership abilities.
- Only students admitted to CMU from about a dozen specific high schools (Montgomery Blair High School, TJHSST, etc.) are eligible. No additional application materials required.
- About a dozen finalists are chosen and invited to CMU during a Sleeping Bag weekend to compete in "leadership activities."
- The number of students selected to receive scholarships varies each year, but it is usually only a few (2-3).
Award details
- Full-tuition scholarship (students still have to pay around <dollar/>15,000 for room and board, books, etc.)
- Special leadership, professional, and travel opportunities
