The Alabama MathCounts team has achieved numerous top 10 finishes at the National MathCounts competition and won the national championship in 1991. Now retired Louis Pizitz Middle School teacher Cindy Wright coached the 1991 national champion Alabama team as well as many other state teams.

MathCounts problems and competition results are sometimes discussed in the Art of Problem Solving Alabama Forum.
