West Virginia Middle School Mathematics Competitions

AoPS hosts middle school math forums where students can discuss contest problems and mathematics.

Math Field Day competitions are held in every county, around December. Each school is to pick students to represent the school (for an average sized school, usually 3 students), and let them compete in a written competition, a mental estimation competition, a mental math competition (where only exact answers are correct), and a physical estimation competition. Grades 4-9 compete in this format. Grades 10-12 are slightly different.

The top 3 students are chosen to represent the county in their region. Then, the top 3 in the region represent the region in the state competition.

This year, the state Math Field Day competition was held at Fairmont State University.
