Chapter Competition

For Oklahoma’s chapter competition, there are four distinct regions. Each region competes on a certain date.

  • East central: first weekend of February or last weekend of January
  • Central: one week after central
  • Eastern: two weeks after central
  • Northwestern: three weeks after central
  • Southwestern: four weeks after central

The eastern region was eliminated in 2015. It is uncertain if it will come back in the future.

The most competitive of these five regions are the ones with Oklahoma's two major metropolis: east central (Tulsa) and central (Oklahoma City/Norman).

All regional competitions in Oklahoma share the same selection process, which, at minimum, is: The top two competitors and the top team. The countdown round may used to determine state qualification.

In 2025, the top 4 teams and the top 4 competitors made state.

State Competition

State competition is usually held on the first weekend of March. Approximately 80-88 students compete each year. Countdown round is official. The 2025 Oklahoma State Competition was on March 1st, 2025 at Oklahoma City University.
