Hello everybody! I am Hongyi Chen. I will be in 8th grade at the start of the school year, at Altona Middle School in Colorado!

AMC 8

2011 - A 24 in 6th grade! Unfortunately, I did not make top 3 in the state because there were 3 perfect scores :(

2012 - 25. Yay.

AMC 10

2012 - I got a failing 103.5 on the AMC10A and a 112.5 on the 10B. So I did not make AIME. Meh

2013 - I barely made AIME with a 108 on the A, but fortunately, I got a 123 on the B, which I suppose isn't too bad.

AIME

2013 - A score of 8! So my index is 203, only 7.5 points from the USAJMO qualifying line!

Mathcounts 2012

School - I got a 42 in the school competition, tying for first place!

Chapter - In the chapters, I got a 43, which landed me at 3rd place in the written part! Unfortunately, due to my lack of countdown practice, I was beaten 3-0 in the countdown and was kicked down to 4th place. Our school managed to get 2nd, which is good.

State - I only got a 30 in the written part D:. However, for some reason, most people seemed to have screwed up with me, and I actually got 4th place in the written competitions! But again, thanks to my lack of countdown practice, I lost in the countdown and fell to 5th place, ruining my chances at nationals. Oh well. However, my school got 1st place, which means my coach gets a free ticket to the nationals!

Mathcounts 2013

School - I got a perfect score of 46, and therefore got 1st place (the second place person got a 44).

Chapter - I screwed up a really easy problem in the target round, and therefore only got a 44 in the written part. However, I was still 1st place in written. This year, I practiced countdown a lot more, and therefore did not get kicked down to 2nd. Yay! 1st in chapter!

State - I derped a whole bunch of questions in the sprint round, and messed up the last target problem, so my written score was only 38, which landed me at 5th in the written. However, thanks to my countdown skills, I was able to beat 3 other people in countdown, so I ended up at 3rd place in the state!

Nationals - I have no idea how, but I managed to get a 43 in the written part, which was enough to make the national countdown! However, I did not practice countdown very much before the nationals (since I was almost certain that I would not make the countdown), so I derped every single problem, and lost 2-0 to Andy Xu, which means that I ended up as a quarter finalist!
