Due to the size and population of the state of California, California MathCounts is broken up into two sites: one in northern California and one in southern California. The California state MathCounts team is made up of the top four students during the written round of the state competition.


History

The California team is usually among the top teams at the national competition and has won seven national championships (1986, 1992, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2010, and 2011), more than any other team.
