He is also a volunteer math coach for [http://web2k.wsfcs.k12.nc.us/hanesms/academics/activities.htm Hanes Middle School] in Winston-Salem, NC.  Over the past two years (2005-06), Hanes has placed a total of 5 students in the top 10 at NC State MathCounts Competitions.  Hanes placed 1st at the Wake Forest 2006 Geometry contest and 2nd in Algebra I. Four Hanes students qualified to take the 2006 AIME and one represented Hanes on the 2006 NC ARML "B" team.

He is also a volunteer math coach for Hanes Middle School in Winston-Salem, NC. Since 2005, Hanes teams have placed 1st, 8th, and 3rd at the NC State MathCounts competitions. A plaque for the top 2007 AMC performance among NC middle schools was awarded to Hanes.
